How X decides what spreads

X ranks each post by the actions it expects from readers. The ranking code is public, and its weights put shares and replies far ahead of likes: a copy-link share is 20.0, a share by DM 5.0, a reply 5.0, a repost 1.0, and a like 0.66. Negative actions weigh even more: a report is −234 and a mute −58.8. By these numbers, one copy-link share outweighs 30 likes, and one report cancels more than 350. Each check below names the weights it aims at.

Hook

The first line works alone: a result, a number, a contrast, a real moment, or a clear opinion.

X: dwell +0.05, not dwelled −0.02. A reader who does not stop does nothing else.

Clarity

One idea for each post. A second idea is a second post.

X: like +0.66, repost +1.0, follow author +4.0.

Specifics

Real numbers and time spans (212 users in 30 days), not 'a lot'.

X: share +2.0, share by DM +5.0, copy link +20.0.

Reply pull

An easy, specific question at the end.

X: reply +5.0 and quote +5.0, against like +0.66. A reply between mutual follows has an extra boost weight of 15.0.

Readability

100 to 200 characters, short lines, and an empty line between the parts.

X: time spent reading +0.006 a second, time after a click +0.4.

No flags

No bait, 0 or 1 hashtag, no @ first, and the link in the first reply. A screenshot when it is the proof.

X: report −234, mute −58.8, not interested −52.272, block −31.2. X's code has no link penalty; the link rule comes from engagement studies.

Questions

Can you predict a viral post?

No tool can. The same words get a different reach on a different account, at a different hour, on a different news day. The checker looks only at the draft, because the draft is the part you can still change.

What gets a post shared on X?

In the public ranking weights of X, a copy-link share is 20.0, a share by DM and a reply are 5.0 each, and a like is 0.66. So reach comes from posts that people pass on. For a builder, that is usually a post with a real number, a result, or a lesson another builder can use the same day.

Why does nobody engage with my posts?

Look at three parts of the post. The first line must say something, not only lead in. The body must show your own numbers or work, so it could not come from any other account. The end must ask a question that a reader can answer in one line. The checker scores these three parts as Hook, Specifics, and Reply pull.

Should I ask people to like and repost?

No. “Like if you agree” and “Follow for more” are engagement bait. In the weights of X, a mute is −58.8 and a report is −234, so a line that annoys readers costs far more than the likes it gets. The checker caps any post with bait at “Weak”.

What is the best length for a post on X?

For most posts, 100 to 200 characters, the range that the Readability check gives full points. Premium lets you go far past 280. A long post is worth its length when each line adds a new fact. Put an empty line between the parts, so the post is easy to read on a phone.

Is my draft saved anywhere?

No. The checker runs in your browser. Reachr never receives your text and keeps nothing.
