Thread maker

Split long text into a thread for X.

Paste notes or a draft. Each post stays inside 280 characters as X counts them, number included.

Split in your browser. Reachr never sees your text.

0 posts
  1. Your thread shows here, one post per card.

How the split works

The thread maker uses X’s own character weights. By X’s rules, a link counts as 23 characters whatever its length, and an emoji or a Chinese, Japanese, or Korean character counts as 2. So a post with a long link can hold more text than it seems, and a post with emoji less.

Your own breaks first

A line with only --- always starts a new post, wherever it is.

Then paragraphs

A post ends at a paragraph break when one fits. Short paragraphs share a post, and the empty line between them stays.

Then sentences, then spaces

A long paragraph breaks after the last full sentence that fits. A word is split only when it is longer than a whole post. Links stay in one piece.

Room for the number

Each number sits on its own line at the end of its post, inside the 280. Text that fits in one post gets no number.

Then post it

Copy the posts one at a time into the composer of X, with the + button between them. X’s help page shows the steps. A thread earns its reach in the replies: X’s public ranking code weighs a reply at 5.0 and a like at 0.66.

Questions

How long should a thread be?

As long as the idea needs. Each post should add one step, one example, or one result. If a post only says again what the post before it said, cut it. If the thread grows past ten posts, check whether it is really two threads.

Should I number the posts in a thread?

Numbers tell readers how much is left, and they keep the order clear when someone shares one post on its own. They cost a few characters per post, and the thread maker counts them. Use “1/” when you still plan to add posts at the end, and “None” when the posts read well without numbers.

What does the first post of a thread need?

The result, the claim, or the question, in the first line. Cut the warm-up. Then use one line to say what the thread covers. Most people see only this post in the timeline, so it has to make sense without the rest.

How do I post a thread on X?

Open the composer and paste the first post. Press the + button under it to add a box for the next post, and paste the next post there. Repeat for each post, then press “Post all”. The copy button on each card copies one post at a time.

Is a long post on Premium better than a thread?

Premium accounts can post up to 25,000 characters at once, and the timeline folds a long post after the first part. A thread gives each point its own post, which people can reply to and share on its own. Use a long post for an essay that reads in one go, and a thread when each step stands alone.

Is my text saved anywhere?

No. The thread maker runs in your browser. Reachr never receives your text and keeps nothing.

The thread is ready. Now find its readers.

Reachr finds the posts on X that describe the problem your product solves, drafts the reply, and schedules your own posts on X at your best times. You decide what goes out.
